In-Car Manx Rally 1983 - Isle of Man - Duration: 5:38. ... rear-drive Saturn Sky from the North American market. Can't knock a perfectly made vauxhall ! So it's a bit in a no man's land...Which again, leaves the RL in a class of its own... Mojo, Semi and company, what would you go for instead of a RL? I got to drive one on the way home since my Dad does Chrysler Service Training, and the thing has absolutely insane power. Kind of a different car being a V8 and all, but I think the price range would be similar. The saturn & pontiac have front engines. So you need to go drive it. The report suggests that the car will have a European feel. The gearing is just stupid from top to bottom. A quick look shows redlines going used for 30Kish from a MSRP of 40Kish, but who knows what the rebate & incentive driven king of bankruptcy sold them for? Also isn't Saturn one of GMs dead brands walking? And btw, does anybody have some comparisons on the track vs Miata, S2000, Porsche, Elise, etc?
The reviews hardly heaped praise on the chassis, though. I always think of the VX220 as being conceptually an Elise S1.5 with a different engine. The Vauxhall VX220 Turbo is no twin of the Sky as I can tell although some say the Solstice and Sky basic design originated here. I'm 5 11, and the dash was not too bad but almost a bit too high. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the car. URG!
The balance of acceleration, handling, and braking is basically unheard of in a $30k car. Get your answers by asking now. I like my RedLine as much as anyone, but comparing to a Corvette??? I'd rather have a mid mounted engine than a front mounted one too. There's a new Vauxhall sports car on the way -- production has just been given the green light.
The VX220 ends production at the end of 2005, but the new car is not due here until 2007. These brands are just imported European/Australian cars owned by general motors, than rebadged (except for the pontiac Vibe which is a Toyota Carolla Verso) I think the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Sostice is just an Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220, am I right? Try to get a 2009 Dodge Caliber SRT4. Solstice? Can't understand they'd cut off the <6 foot people and women market...Omni: Bah, sort of thing I was sort of afraid of hearing... Miata has lot less power though, S2000 costs quite a bit more. 1) affordable. © 2020 Pistonheads Holdco Limited, All Rights Reserved. There's an official GM upgrade (about $800 installed and you keep the warranty) which boosts horsepower to 290 and torque to 340(!! All it does is drives more of a perceived gap between the VX and the Elise; yes, there is a small gap in driver experience, but comparisons to the 'comfortable sports ragtops' is unrealistic. I have been hanging out with a bunch of vette owners this summer (mostly C5 and C6, including a few Z06) and I have some observations. Nothing seems to come close in performance/looks... Elise would be awesome, but costs quite a bit more... Yeah, the Saturn and Solstice are platform twins, both based off of the Vauxhall VX220 if I remember right. Not just the cash. Ad Choices. I've never got the comparisons with MX5s, MR2s etc. The problem I see is this: If the road is so amazingly curvy that you're only going 30MPH, then power doesn't matter (or matters a whole lot less). Not to mention: testing (both safety and production), then there's Pre-production, up-grades, maintenance and and labor. But anyhow, what's the lounge verdict for the RL? ell mediocre handling... Is anybody saying it has mediocre handling?
Finally, when parked side-by-side, more car show attendees are viewing my Sky than the Vettes. Also known as a Saturn Sky and Pontiac somethingorother. It's not the same car, they're hardly even related. 2003 Turbo added, with 197bhp and 184lb ft: 0-60mph in 4.7 secs, 151mph, leather seats, larger side air intakes, Y-spoke wheels. I think it will definitely give the Miata a run for it's money. Learn more about Saturn Sky at the Edmunds.com Car Forums! that is a poor analogy...that vette has been modified. I think it looks nice, but (a) I don't even remotely fit in it (I test drove one, and when I sit up straight I'm looking over the top of the windshield) and (b) the complete lack of trunk space with the top down seems limiting. The Camaro is a new design from the ground up. But you never know when a deal might pop up...I've always somewhat been tempted since I first learned about it, but the problem is, it's really a toy I don't need... Also in this wonderful Canada, we have something called winter, so the car would be usable less than 1/2 of the year... My summer transportation is this, and since I work right in the middle of downtown, a car wouldn't even be an interesting option as opposed to BMW (Bus Metro Walk, well train actually, which door to door is actually faster than a car would be...), and I'd rather bike during the summer anyhow, instead of being in the traffic, burning gas, wasting money on a ridiculously high parking rates, etc...But anyhow, this isn't about the me, it's about the Saturn Red Line -- View image here: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif -- Anybody else thinks it looks like a fantastic car?

It won't be a surprise to learn that the Opel Speedster and its Vauxhall and Daewoo twins were great cars. These brands are just imported European/Australian cars owned by general motors, than rebadged (except for the pontiac Vibe which is a Toyota Carolla Verso). Anyhow, the Evo isn't a slow car per se... for almost 1/2 price, you'd expect the evo to beat it I hope! The 2007 Saturn Sky was shown at this year's Detroit auto show. :agree: Back then they had NO passenger side rearview mirrors. Did they actualy make this car or was it a concept and the opel is the only other car like the sky? that style mirror was introduced in the early 70s...my 72 Lemans Sport had those. The speedster looked almost the same as the VX220, thats something different, but I cant remember what it is.... Edited by kambites on Saturday 11th April 18:17. It won't get you to work earlier, or to the grocery store any faster, but if you're buying a sports car for fun, then yeah... mediocre handling will decrease the amount of fun that car is when you're driving spiritedly. If all these cars are restyled Toyota's/Holdens/Vauxhalls, then why can't we make a car anymore? Bring the Vauxhall VX220 over instead? Anything new is going to depreciate quickly and I'd guess the Sky/Solstice is not going to magically defy that. Based on the Saturn Sky, it'll look similar to the Lightning concept car that Vauxhall put together in 2003 in celebration of the company's anniversary. The Vauxhall/Opel is actually a sports car, the saturn is just a cheap *** convertible with the facade of performance. Chad D. Lv 6.
First, the frames use similar technologies (meaning that similar handling is achievable). Maybe some caliper covers in chrome will look close to VX Lightning style wheels.

The Saturn Sky was at the Detroit Show in January last (see story link below). They are not imported from Europe either, they are built in the USA. Read real discussions on thousands of topics and get your questions answered. This was brought to my attention by a Vette owner. GM's power trains are great (I owned a C5 Z06 vette too) but their fit-and-finish along with NVH (noise-vibe-harshness) frankly sucks. What could be the main cause of a Cylinder 1 misfire on a Pontiac g6 gt?
2) Is this really important for a normal sports car? 1; 2; 3 ... considering it was put forward by Vauxhall and that the original VX220 was essentially "body by Lotus", as I understand it. It'll replace the much-loved VX220 and be available in LHD form only.
