Here we have a re-imagined and updated origin story for Batman set in an entirely different continuity. Batman gets wrung through another gauntlet as 5 assassins arrive in Gotham including Deathstroke. I'm been a big fan of his since his early Marvel UK days. I wasn't expecting to keep pulling Batman for long after Tom King left the series (was probably going to stick around until #100), but James Tynion's run starts with a bang with the "Their Dark Designs" storyline.
During that time, he also began his comics career. The links are provided solely by this site's users. Is it good?
Starting with the positives the art work is great, the plot is strong, and villains are truly despicable. At least Johns's take is actually good, and has some interesting new twists. Through perseverance, Geoff ended up as the assistant to Richard Donner, working on Conspiracy Theory and Lethal Weapon 4. So the Earth One series is picking up the mantle of the old school What if... series in the DC universe.
Many fan boys don't like it when writers mess around with their favorite characters and try something new.
Trying to go easy on the spoilers - this arc wears its themes on its sleeve (which helps it feel tight and consistent throughout), the premise for the villain is clever and feels new (not gonna say "is" 'cause I haven't read all of batman), Bruce is treated as an actual human being with emo.
